The Bible / The Word of YHWH We accept all 66 books of the Bible (Hebrew Tenach & Greek New Testament) as the divinely inspired Word of God. We believe it is accurate and error free as originally written. We understand that parts of the Tenach (Hebrew Scriptures) are self-confessed, edited compilations. However, the final editing of these (mainly books of history) was divinely inspired by the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) - this means that they are also accurate and error free. Our approach to understanding Scriptures is to accept its explicit meaning (in context). We also seek to use scripture to interpret scripture. As far as we can, we seek to read these Words of YHWH without influence of previous conditioning. We are aware that we are not fully capable of this but rely on YHWH to guide us into all truths through His Word. We are also aware that our present understanding of the truths of the Bible is open to the correction of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) through the Bible itself. We accept that no one translation of any language can adequately represent that language. This is particularly so with a large and complex work such as the Scriptures. Individually we use the translation that best serves our needs. In the assembly we find it helpful to use one version to help those who are new to our meetings. This is often the New King James Version. In a few instances, a particular point of interpretation may come down to understanding the original words of Scriptures - Hebrew, Chaldee or Greek. When this is required we accept the Textus Receptus as the final arbiter in the Greek text and the Masoretic Text for the Hebrew. |
